Sleigh Ride and Dinner At Viking Yurt To Save Senior Dogs
The elegant Viking Yurt is celebrating their new book and very generously donating a full night of a beautiful sleigh ride under the stars and a gourmet 6 course dinner with live music in their beautiful Viking Yurt to help abandoned senior dogs get the vet care they need.
Prices include a spectacular ride to 8700 feet, a 6-course gourmet dinner, tax and tip on dinner service. Alcoholic beverages and tip for the pianist are not included.
This is a Nordic mountain fine dining adventure unlike any other in the world. We take each diner on a memorable winter journey. This four hour European adventure dining experience is not a rushed meal as there is only one seating of 40 guests per evening.
Your evening adventure begins with a 23-minute spectacular sleigh ride up 1,800 feet with incredible views of the night sky, giant trees and the best views of the lights of Park City and surrounding mountains. The thrill of being the only ones on the top of the mountain at night in the deep pine forest is breath taking. Through the trees ahead, you see the warm glow of the Viking Yurt.
As you marvel at the beautiful setting, you'll hear the music from within the yurt and anticipate the gourmet six-course meal that awaits. Guests are amazed that there is a baby grand piano in a yurt that provides elegant live music as your party gathers around the long wooden tables laden with glowing candles and pewter dinnerware.
The chef, who has brought all the food and water up by snowmobile will introduce this Norwegian rendition of the gourmet six course menu. Each course has imaginative presentation and entertaining twists. When the meal is complete, you'll head back down the mountain on the sleigh nestled under the heavy blankets to the base of the resort. This is an evening you will talk about for years.
Choose your ticket if you would like to sit in the open sleigh or the heated cab, fill out the form and you will receive a VERY detailed confirmation letter with directions on how to dress and where to meet. Please read it carefully and follow our recommendations.
Many more fun photos are available on The Viking Yurt's Facebook.

Wine Service
A wine, beer and liquor selection is available at the Yurt. Alcoholic beverages are never included with the dinner price in Utah. If you choose to order extra beverages that is an additional charge. Tip on the alcohol service is not included with the dinner price. Utah State liquor laws prohibit alcohol (other than uncorked wine) to be brought to the yurt and alcohol consumed on the sleigh ride. You may bring your own wine but please be advised that a $20 corkage fee will be applied to each bottle (twist top bottles also) and the unopened wine bottle must be placed on the table for server set up. This is typical of any Utah restaurant and Utah law. Click below on BEVERAGE LIST if you would like to see our wine/beer/champagne/liquor list in advance. Our wines range in price from $35 to $112. If you bring any alcohol other than wine, we will take it from you rather than lose our liquor license. So have a sense of humor with us in following Utah's quirky liquor laws and please show us the same respect you would any other restaurant. Utah law requires we know if anyone in your party is under the age of 21 for table assignment.
Please click here to see The Viking Yurt's webpage for a beverage list.
Baby Grand Piano
Once inside the yurt, you'll delight at the cozy atmosphere. The rich melodies of a baby grand piano, played by a concert pianist, complement the night's unique experience. Where else can you have an intimate piano concert and experience some of the best dining in Utah available? You may request a favorite song after the cheese course. If you appreciate the pianist contributions to your evening, please remember to tip as there is a glass jar for cash on the piano or you may ask the server to leave a credit card tip. The pianist will play their heart out for you all evening.
Moving the antique baby grand piano to the yurt is a story in itself. Not one moving company would take the job. So Geir strapped a mattress to their snowmobile trailer, loaded Joy's heirloom on top, and carefully drove up the mountain on a bumpy ski maintenance road, pulling the entire contraption behind. The local paper wished they had taken pictures but Joy was too nervous to think of that.

Once on the main plaza level you will see an eagle bronze sculpture. The huge green building behind the sculpture is Legacy Lodge. Enter there into ground level of Legacy Lodge, the double doors between the sports store and the restaurant.
Meeting time: We leave the meeting room at 6 p.m. but we need you inside the meeting room just before to sign in and hear our short speech. DO NOT BE LATE …or the sleigh will leave without you and there is no other way up to the Yurt! If you are late and miss the sleigh you will not receive a refund. Do not send some of your party to the sleigh as the cat driver will ask them to return to the meeting room as everyone must sign in themselves. Attire: Dress for night time/winter conditions. The sleigh ride is 23 minutes and a 1800 ft. vertical rise so bring hats, mittens and long-johns/ski pants are recommended for cold nights. A fancy sweater is a good idea for your fancy dinner but layers are recommended. Appropriate footwear is most important. No street shoes if you want warm feet. You will walk across snow to get to the sleigh. It is warm and very luxurious inside the yurt so layers are best. The Vikings say "There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing."
